As a part of His Divine mission, a silent revolution of spiritual-transformation is happening globally which is a boon to Humanity to lead a happy and peaceful life. One can witness devotees of SSSSO, Visakhapatnam spreading fragrance of Bhagawans mission of transforming self to transform the world all over Vizag district and making a peaceful place to live in.

Visakhapatnam – The Jewel of East Coast

Visakhapatnam is known for its oldest shipyard and the only natural harbour on the east coast of India. It is fifth-busiest cargo por t in India, and the city is home to the headquarters of the Indian Navy Eastern Command. Beautiful locations like Dolphin nose hill, RK beach, Araku Valley, picturesque Paderu attract tourists from everywhere. Famous Temples of Narasimha Swamy Varu at Simhachalam, Goddess Kanaka Mahalakshmi in Vizag city, Goddess Mookambika in Anakapalli are piligrim places. As a unique testament to communal harmony, and the peace-loving nature of Vizagites, there are three picturesque hillocks - The Venkateswara Temple on the ‘Sringamani Hillock’, The Ross Hill Church on the ‘Ross Hill’, and The Baba Ishq Madina Dargah on the ‘Dargah Konda’. HPCL, BHPV, Steel Plant and many such public and private sectors companies in Vizag make it a cosmopolitan place.

Andhra University established in 1926, with many famous personalities as its by-products, still ranks good among university ratings.

Visakhapatnam is also referred by many nicknames such as The City of Destiny and The Jewel of the East Coast, Waltair.

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Babas Visit to Visakhapatnam district

26^th march 1965 remains red lettered day in the annals of SSSSO, Vizag. Bhagawan on His way from East Godavari, visited Yelamanchili a small town 60km away from main Vizag city. On invitation from devotees from Yellamanchili, Bhagawan stayed there for 2 days and blessed devotees with His Divine Discourse. He stayed in ardent devotee, Late Sri. Venuturupalli Tammiraju residence. Bhagawan delivered Divine Discourse addressing 50,000 people. Excerpts of His discourse:

Religion is an opinion. People speak as per their own logic. It is for this reason, ancient rushis advised to follow vedas. Many truths were prescribed for humanity to follow. Sacrifice is the source for love, peace and happiness. Gopala means one who controls senses. Senses are associated with Ego. One need to protect senses and direct them towards atma. Senses should be offered to Gopala. Then only one needs to execute duties. One will attain unwavering faith in God thereby. This type of devotion alone is stable and everlasting. I do not need flowers and fruits you offer. They will wither away. Currency is no more valid once you cross this country. I do not want currency too. I want your unsullied hearts. Offer me discipline and purity as fruits. I expect love for God – fear sin – Morality in society (Daiva Preethi – paapa bheethi- Sanga neethi) from you all. I accept that duty and seva from you all.

Today a sarva dharma stupa stands tall at that spot in Yellamanchili where Bhagawan has delivered His message on unity of faiths.

Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations in The City Of Destiny

Pioneer devotees are from Yelamanchili .Devotees from Yellamanchili used to visit Puttaparthi to get cured of certain diseases by Young Sathya Sai Baba. Bhajans were held at devotees’ homes during that period. Residence of Late Sri.P.Bapi Raju was the first venue to start Bhajans as an activity of SSSSO. Adding to it ,with regular bhajans at the residences of Sri. Joga Rao Garu and Sri. Paparaogaru , SSSSO activities took momentum.

Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar, Visakhapatnam

Ardent devotees Sri. Kancherla Dattu,Sri.Ramakrishna Rao, Dr.T.Viswanatha Rao, Sri.CV.Ramana, Dr.Mangamma sought permission of Bhagawan to start a school with CBSE Syllabus. Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar with a strength of 60 students was inaugurated in a Red Cross building near Magistrate. Later with the support of then District collector, Sri.SV.Prasad Rao garu, many eminent personalities from Vizag and with the funds collected from Railway employees 1.3 acres land was purchased for a nominal price. Builder Shri.Prabhat Kumar Garu has taken up the task of building the present beautiful Sathya Sai School cum Mandir. Many devotees put their hands in seva for the construction of this building. Mandir is named as PREMA SADAN. In 1985 on April 14^th Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar and Prem Sadan were inaugurated by Sri. K. Anil Kumar Garu.

Genesis and the growth of the School

Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar, a name to reckon with, among educational institutions in the city is a premier CBSE school committed to excellence. Started in the year 1982 in a small building, the school has grown over years into a model institution, imparting value education, besides the regular academic curriculum. In the year 1985, it has come into its own present premises in MVP Colony.

The two main factors which make the school unique among the other schools are discipline and value based education. Here, Educare, which is a combination of both worldly and spiritual knowledge is imparted to the students. The teaching methods aim at imparting value-based education integrated with the curriculum. A special subject called E.H.V – Education in Human Values along with Balvikas (3 Groups) is taught where children learn certain values like truth, love, peace, kindness, forgiveness, forbearance etc., which are very essential for a good and happy life. The school gives equal importance to sports and games to encourage healthy competition, character building and physical stamina. The students who excel in academics, sports and games and other co-curricular activities are encouraged and awarded gold medals, trophies and shield. Another special feature of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar is service. Children are taught the value of service from a very young age. They do a lot of service activities like distributing clothes and food etc., to the poor and needy.

Above all the school strives to reach the expectations of Bhagawan Baba, thus satisfying and fulfilling the standards of education in all spheres.

Former President of India Sri.Abdul Kalam, Cricketers Sri. Sunil Gavaskar, Sri. Gautam Gambir, many civil servants, ministers, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust members and many eminent personalities visited Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar and appreciated it for being a model school in Sri Sathya Sai education.

Expansion of SSSSO

In the Prem Sadan complex both school and SSSSO activities take place. Prema Sadan also accommodates State President's office, District President's office, Radio Sai Recording centre, Medical centre, Deena Janodharana Pathakam children, guest rooms for visitors.

Earlier as a zonal 1 coordinator of Vizag, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts, Sri.V. Paparaogaru served the SSSSO. Under his leadership, at every nook and corner of Vizag district integrated medical camps and Narayana Seva were conducted.

SSSSO activities took leap to the next level. With expansion of activities and increase in number of devotees, SSSSO attained district status. Sri. GKP. Mukund Rao Garu served SSSSO Vizag district as District President for 10 years. Later Sri.VR.Nageswara Rao Garu is appointed as District President and he is continuing his services to the SSSSO in the district as DP.

With further expansion of activities and increase in number of members, SSSSO Vizag has been further segregated into many samithis. Sri Sathya Sai mandirs, sarva dharma stupas are seen in everywhere in these samithis.

The following activities take place in the district in various samithis –

Education – BalaVikas, free tutions, SSSVJ school,Deenajanodharana pathakam, mass aksharabhyasam

Youth - Ujjwal Jeevan (free computer training courses), Free coaching for entrance exams like bank, free tutions, Disaster Management, Mental Hospital services, Traffic awareness programs, Pallaki seva, Veda tutorials, SSSVJ

Seva – Narayan Seva, Medical centre, mobile medical services, grama seva, free vocational courses, Sai Protein distribution, Nitya Narayana Seva, distribution of amruta kalasams, distribution of needs like stationary, books, uniforms, tables, chairs, umbrellas to school children

Spiritual – Nitya pujas, Sri Sathya Sai Vratham, celebration of festivals of multi faiths, pallaki seva, Veda chanting, Samarpan, mass kumkum pujas, bhajans in public places, residences of devotees

Prema Vani Digital Studio – Regularly records various programs which are broadcasted through Radio Sai Telugu Stream

Parthi Yatras – Sri.MS.Prakash rao garu composer of many songs on Bhagawan, director and script writer of many dance dramas is a boon for Vizag district. Students of Youth wing, balavikas and Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar enacted many dance dramas at Puttaparthi. Bhagawan enjoyed and blessed every program that was performed at Puttaparthi. Annually during Krishnashtami devotees of Visakhapatnam pay visit of gratitude to the divine abode Puttaparthi , get spiritually charged and continue to be part of Bhagwans mission and vision.

Emerged out of such strong SSSSO, Vizag is Sri. SG.Chalam who served SSSSO as a state Seva Coordinator. Blessed and appreciated by Bhagawan Himself for his relentless seva, Sri.SG.Chalam became AP State President in the year 2011 and is also the Convenor of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar.

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Babavaru has blessed His devotees with Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations. As a part of His Divine mission, devotees of Vizag SSSSO feel it is their good fortune that we all are given a place in SSSSO for our self-transformation.
